Historical Note
The North American Lesbian and Gay Religious Congress, held in Atlanta, Georgia in 1982, was "an outgrowth of the 'Strategy Conference on Homophobia in the Churches' [1979] . . . [T]hat conference brought together 16 different Lesbian and Gay caucuses from various Christian denominations, and focused on strategies for dealing with homophobia by educating denominational memberships to the insights, needs, and hopes of their Lesbian and Gay members.'
