Cooperative Emergency Outreach was founded in the spring of 1990 in Fayetteville, Arkansas as an adjunct of the Outreach Caregivers Task Force of the Fayetteville Ministerial Alliance. The organization was intended to improve church-sponsored emergency services to needy citizens. By June 15, 1990, members of Cooperative Emergency Outreach had adopted bylaws and stated their intention of providing emergency services to needy families and individuals in the Fayetteville area by coordinating member churches and agencies and volunteer activities. As of 2010, Cooperative Emergency Outreach had a total of 21 member churches. Presidency is rotated among the member churches. A history of the Cooperative Emergency Outreach was published in the summer 2010 issue of Flashback, the journal of the Washington County Historical Society.
