Burleigh, Charles Hartwell, 1842-1929.
Charles Hartwell Burleigh (1842-1929), son of John Oscar and Evelina Moore Burleigh, was born in Oxford, Mass. After obtaining some public school education, he enlisted in the Union Army of 1862. In 1866, he came to Worcester, Mass., and for about three years was in the employ of Elbridge Boyden ( -1898), architect; and for some four years in the office of Thomas H. Dodge (1823-1910), solicitor of patents. In 1872, Burleigh began his own practice as a patent lawyer and subsequently became a noted member of that profession.
