The Indiana University Center for the History of Medicine was created in 1989 to document Indiana's medical past. In collaboration with the Indiana University School of Medicine, a pilot oral history project began in 1991 which focused on physicians who practiced or received their medical education in Indiana. The project was aided by the Indiana University Oral History Research Center and a Clio Grant from the Indiana Historical Society.
