Andrew Putnam Hill, Jr. (1886-1973) graduated from San José High School in 1906, received his teaching certificate from the San Jose State Normal School in 1920, and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University in June 1922. He worked for over fifty years in school systems such as San José High School, California State School Department (Director of Schoolhouse Planning), Santa Maria High School and Junior College (District Superintendent) and Stockton Unified School District (Superintendent of Schools), as well as working as an architect and conservationist.
