Julian Creighton Miller was born in Lexington, S.C., and educated at Clemson College and Cornell University. He joined the faculty of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La., in 1929 where he taught horticulture for 37 years. His research focused especially on Irish potatoes, sweet potatoes, and strawberries.
