The donee, witnesses and William de Longchamp who executed this charter were all staunch supporters of Richard I (1157-1199) and benefited from their connection with him. Hugh Puiset was made justiciar. Hubert Walter became Archbishop of Canterbury in 1193. Henry de Longchamp, William de LongchampCHapos;s brother became Sheriff of Herefordshire and William Marshal later became Earl of Pembroke. Alexander de Swereford (1176? - 1246) who wrote the memorandum was a baron of the exchequer and the reputed compiler of the Red Book of the Exchequer . Shortly before writing the memorandum he had been sent on a diplomatic mission to Llywelyn ap Iorwerth, (1173 - 1240), Prince of North Wales.
