Scott, Charles, 1822-1893,
Dr. Scott graduated from Rutgers University in 1844 and from New Brunswick Theological Seminary in 1848. After joining the faculty of Hope College in 1866 as a professor of chemistry and the natural sciences, Scott became an integral part of the school's administration. He was appointed vice-president in 1878, served as interim president (1880-1885), and became Hope's second president in 1885. He retired in 1892.
