Thomas Hamlin Hubbard (b. Dec. 20, 1838-d. May 19, 1915), Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General, was the son of Maine Governor John Hubbard and a lawyer in practice when he enlisted in the 25th Maine Infantry as a First Lieutenant in September, 1862. With the 25th Maine he served on garrison duty in the defense of Washington, from October, 1862 to March, 1863. In December, 1863, he was promoted Lieutenant Colonel in the 30th Maine Infantry which participated in the Red River Campaign, in March 1864. Promoted Colonel in command of the 25th Maine in May, 1864, he fought in the Shenandoah Valley Campaign and was served as the Provost Guard in Washington D.C. For meritorious service, he was brevetted Brigadier General of U.S. Volunteers in July, 1865. After the war, he resumed legal practice and became a successful executive for the Southern Pacific Railroad Company.
