Archer-Hind, R. D. (Richard Dacre), 1849-1910
Variant namesRichard Dacre Archer-Hind was born into an ancient Northumbrian family. He was educated at Cambridge, and lectured there for many years. An excellent scholar and renowned classicist, he wrote or edited numerous monographs, perhaps most significantly on Plato. He was also a strong supporter of women's education.
