Association organized in 1912 as the Kansas Association of Graduate Nurses as a reaction to a need for graduate nurses to begin a campaign to persuade the Kansas Legislature to enact a Nurses Registration Law. Name changed to Kansas State Nurses Association in 1917. The Association has continued to be active in lobbying the state Legislature, perfecting professional & educational standards, supporting nurses' training, advocating salary structures to make them competitive with other states, and fostering professional development.
