Bailey, Jacob S.

Jacob Stillman Bailey (often called Stillman) was born in Vermont around 1838, probably in Braintree or Randolph, Vermont. He enlisted in Randolph, Vermont in Co. F of the First United States Regiment of Sharpshooters on September 11, 1861 and was promoted Corporal on December 1, 1862. Bailey was wounded first at the Battle of Malvern Hill on July 1, 1862, and second at the Battle of Chancellorsville on May 3, 1863, where he lost his arm. He was discharged on August 26, 1863.
