Esther Maria Samuelson of Providence, Rhode Island was a student at the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro), graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish. While a student, Samuelson was a member of the Adelphian Society, Golden Chain, Curriculum Committee, Y.W.C.A., Masqueraders, Botany Club, Phi Psi Omega, Spanish Club, Veterans Club, and Phi Beta Kappa. She was a May Day Chairman, Elections Chairman, Pine Needles Section Editor, and Junior Advisor. Samuelson was also active in many college plays.
