Carolina, Clinchfield and Ohio Railway Company.
CC & O was contructed to connect the coal fields of southwest VA and eastern KY. Construction of the main line into Spartanburg, SC was completed in 1909, and the Elkhorn Extension in 1915. The route covers 277 miles from Elkhorn Yard, KY to Spartanburg. In 1983 Clinchfield Railroad Co. became a division of Seaboard System (controlled by CSX).
