O'Brien, William Smith, 1803-1864
Variant namesIrish nationalist and member of Parliament. Leader of the Young Ireland movement. Led an almost bloodless uprising against the police in Ballingary County and was tried successfully for treason. He was sentenced to be hanged, but instead was exiled until 1856.
