Attorney, amateur historian. Born in Oakland and educated at University of California. Practiced law in San Francisco (1931-1942). Joined Immigration and Naturalization Service, serving principally in Sacramento (1943-1946). In service he travelled up and down Sacramento Valley interviewing citizenship applicants. Returned to private law practice in Sacramento (1946-1977). President of Sacramento Historical Society (1960) and Conference of California Historical Societies (1965). Sought in essays to document lifestyle of early 20th century. Several of these were published in "California Historian."
