The Joint Committee on Public Assistance was organized on 22 September 1948 "to get a thorough understanding of the principles and basic essentials of public assistance and its operation in Westchester County, and to aid in securing more thorough understanding by Westchester County residents." Its members were representatives from various social agencies throughout the county. These are the files of one of the Committee's members, Carl H. Pforzheimer.
