Leonard M. Haynie (1893-1973) was born in Manassa, Colorado on May 12, 1893. He served an LDS mission to England from 1911-1913 and afterwards attended Brigham Young Academy for a year-and-a-half. He worked in his father's hardware store. In Oct. 1916 he married Louise Haynie Johnson. In 1919 he began his studies at the Denver School of Law. In 1922 he graduated with a Law degree and was admitted to the Colorado Bar. He and his family ran, as a manager, at Haynie Harware Company for the next ten years. In 1929 he was appointed Conejos County Attorney in Colorado. Leonard died April 11, 1973.

Hazel Gertrude Mortensen Haynie (1898-1998) was born Jan. 9, 1898 in Eastdale, Colorado. She married her husband in Salt Lake City, Utah in the LDS Temple. They had four children, Elwood (1917), LaRue (1920), Louise (1923), and Delph (1927). Hazel died April 5, 1998.
