Brown, Merle Blinn, b. 1886

New Mexico-born author and memoirist. Brown was raised in the Black Mountain Range, in the town of Chloride. Her family moved to Socorro County, living in Magdalena and Socorro. Brown graduated from the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts Class in 1906. She settled in California after marriage. Her poetry, short stories and memoirs documented her experiences in New Mexico at the turn of the twentieth century.
