Company of Undertakers of the Iron Works in New England
The first successful iron works in North America were established in 1645 in that part of Lynn, Mass. now called Saugus. The works were in operation until about 1670. The site was reconstructed in the 1940's as an historic landmark and museum, the Saugus Ironworks.
