Richard Yarnall was born in Philadelphia in 1922 and graduated from Germantown Friends School, Colgate University (B.A. 1946) and the University of Pennsylvania (B. Arch. 1949). After completing his architecture degree, Yarnall worked for Philadelphia firms: Carroll, Grisdale & Van Alen (1949-1954), and then Wright, Andrade & Amenta (1954-1957). He was general manager for the Roberts Construction firm in 1952-1953. In 1957, he opened his own architectural office in Philadelphia. He moved his practice to Doylestown in 1972 and retired in 2001. Yarnall's practice included a large number of residential projects, together with a smaller number of commercial and institutional projects. His work focused in the greater Philadelphia region of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
