Samuel Yates Levy (1817-1887) was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He practiced law in Savannah. He began service with the Confederate Army as Captain of the City Light Guards, serving with the 1st Volunteer Regiment of Georgia. He became Major of the regiment. He was the author of The Italian Bride: A Play in Five Acts (Savannah, 1856).
