The company was formed in 1906 for the purpose of raising capital, overseeing construction, and operating Boulder's first luxury hotel. Its first board of directors comprised W. R. Rathvon, I. T. Earl, M. S. Whiteley, J. L. Moorhead, James Hankins, H. Casaday, and O. M. Gilbert.
