Tobler, John, 1696-1765

Tobler arrived in South Carolina in 1757 as the head of a party of Swiss emigrants, and established a store at New Windsor, where he traded with the Indians. His son, Ulrick, who was a partner in the store, a deputy surveyor, and justice of the peace, was killed by Cherokee Indians on Feb. 15, 1760.
