Reeves, Charles F. (Charles Francis), 1854-1933
Variant namesCharles Francis Reeves, of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, graduated from Penn State in 1878 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He earned a Master of Science degree from Penn State in 1881. Reeves was a professor of modern languages and a university librarian from 1878 to 1890. From 1884 to 1890, he was also in charge of the business office as an assistant to the college president. In 1894, Reeves went to the University of Washington and was a professor of modern languages until 1897 and then professor of the German language and literature. Reeves was the acting president of the university from 1897 to 1898 and served as the dean of the College of Liberal Arts starting in 1899. He died in Seattle on 31 December 1933, at the age of seventy-nine.
