Frank C. Ball (1857-1943) was born in Ohio in 1857. In 1880, Frank and Edmund Ball received a $200 loan from their uncle to purchase the Wooden Jacket Company. Their brothers, Lucius L. Ball, William C. Ball, and George A. Ball, joined the business in 1884 and they changed the name to the Ball Brothers Glass Manufacturing Company. Frank Ball was responsible for moving the Ball family from Buffalo, New York to Muncie, Indiana, in 1887 to take advantage of the natural gas boom. He served as the first president of the Ball Brothers and remained president for 63 years.
