Born Philadelphia, Pa., Schofield studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and, in 1890, at the Academie Julian. After marrying Murielle Redmayne in 1897, he established his residence in England, making frequent trips to the United States to conduct his art-related business. He was primarily known as a landscape and marine painter.
