Sibley, Sylvester.
Sylvester Sibley(1801-1865) was a U.S. Deputy Surveyor in Mich. and Wis., 1832-1840. His uncle, Solomon Sibley (1769-1846) served as Mich. Auditor of Public Accounts, 1814-187; Territorial Delegate to Congress, 1820-1823; and Justice of the Supreme Court, 1824-1837. One of Solomon's sons, Henry Hastings Sibley (1811-1891), was a Civil War general and the first governor of Minn.
