Grootenhuis, Bernardus, 1814-1893.
Grootenhuis immigrated to the United States in 1846, settling in Michigan in 1847. A painter by trade, he also mastered surveying. In 1867 Grootenhuis was the supervisor of Holland Township and was later appointed County Drain Commissioner. In 1861 he was one of the first elders elected to Hope Reformed Church.
