Charles Frederick Koelsch, B.S. (1928), Ph.D. (1931) University of Wisconsin. Appointed as instructor of organic chemistry in 1932 at the University of Minnesota; retired as professor emeritus in 1973. C. Frederick Koelsch was born on January 31, 1907 in Boise, Idaho. He earned his B.S. in 1928 and his Ph.D. in 1931 from the University of Wisconsin. From 1931-1932 Professor Koelsch was National Research Council (NRC) fellow at Harvard University. He came to the University of Minnesota in 1932. He served as instructor of organic chemistry (1932-1934), assistant professor of chemistry (1934-1935), assistant professor of organic chemistry (1935-1937), associate professor (1937-1946) and professor (1946-1973). Professor Koelsch retired from the University as professor emeritus in 1973. He died on December 24, 1999.
