Montgomery, Alexander Maxwell, 1792-1828.
Dr. Montgomery served as acting Surgeon's mate on the US Frigate Essex under Captain David Porter in the War of 1812. He fought with Poter in the harbor of Valparaiso in 1814, and in the defense of Washington. He was later Commander of the Naval Hospital at Brooklyn.
