Bell, George, 1878-1966
Variant namesArtist, art critic and art teacher. In 1937 Bell achieved prominence when he led Melbourne's modern art community in opposition to Robert Menzies' proposed Australian Academy of Art. He was foundation President of the Contemporary Art Society, 1938.
