Thomson, J. P. (James Park), 1854-1941
Variant namesGeographer and astronomer. Thomson was the founder, in 1885, of the Royal Geographical Society of Australasia, Queensland Branch, was president 1894-1897 and edited its "Journal". He had a private observatory and was responsible for the adoption of the zonal system for reckoning time.
