Ragsdale, George Henry, 1846-1895.
George Henry Ragsdale was born in Knox County, Tennessee, in 1846. In 1867, he moved with his family to a farm outside Gainesville, Cooke County, Texas, where he served as county surveyor during the 1870s. From the mid-1870s through 1894, Ragsdale pursued his career as an amateur field naturalist, publishing almost 100 articles and compiling significant data on the natural history of north-central Texas. He died in 1895.
