Hide Profile

Butte Teamsters' Union, Local No. 2 was organized in 1910. An earlier union, Teamsters' Local #15 existed as early as 1899. Probably operating under the auspices of the Butte Workingmen's Union, it seems likely that the group reorganized as Local #2 when the local teamsters affiliated with the International Union. The Butte Teamsters were one of the first unions to offer pension programs, to introduce health and welfare programs, and to negotiate health benefits with the state of Montana. Originally organizing members in the Butte area, today Local 2 encompasses the entire state of Montana.
