McCann (b.1923) served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946.

After the war, he settled in his hometown of Madison (Wisconsin) and worked for the Boeing Airplane Company. He was senior vice commander of the Disabled American Veterans in Madison, as well as chapter commander and department senior vice commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
