Walker, Velma, of Middlebury, Vt.

Hide Profile

Velma Walker was interested in the future of Route 7 because of her position as president of the Middlebury Garden Club and because her home was located on Route 7. The Middlebury Transportation Committee was a local citizens committee formed in Nov. 1973 to help plan the future of Route 7 in Middlebury: if a bypass should be built east or west of the village; if the existing route should be relocated or widened; or if nothing should be done. The committee, appointed by the Addison County chairman for the Regional Highway Council, included representatives of many community organizations. Milton and Beatrice Barnes, residents of Court St. (Route 7) in Middlebury, led the fight against the widening of Court St.
