Wilkeson, John, 1806-1894.
Born 1806 in Poland, Ohio. Elder son of Judge Samuel Wilkeson. Owned iron companies in Ohio and Pennsylvania; built and operated the Wilkeson elevator in Buffalo; appointed consul to Turk's Island in 1842 by President John Tyler. He married Maria Louisa Wilkes of Portsmouth, England, in 1832. They had one daughter and two sons. Both sons fought in the Civil War; the elder son, John Wilkes Wilkeson, was killed in the Battle of Seven Pines, Va. in 1862. John Wilkeson died in Buffalo in 1894.
