Henry M. Crydenwise was a Union soldier from Otsego County, New York.
Crydenwise enlisted in the 90th Regiment, Company A of the New York State Volunteers. His regiment was stationed in Key West, Florida, from 1861 until December 1862, then in Beaufort, South Carolina, until February 1863 when they returned to Key West. In May 1863, the regiment returned to Louisiana where it participated in the siege of Port Hudson. Crydenwise went on to be commissioned as Captain in the Corps D'Afrique, also known as the Louisiana Native Guards. He was detached from his company to serve as head of the Freedmen's Bureau in Demopolis, Alabama, and was mustered out in January 1866.
