The Executive Committee of the General Synod's Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society (WHFMS) conducted the business of the WHFMS between the biennial conventions. From 1879 through 1885 it was composed of ten members. In 1887 the number increased to thirteen. It was written into the WHFMS constitution that the executive committee members would be "located at or near the same place," so they could have monthly meetings to conduct business. Their duties included general administrative duties, management of disbursement of funds, and oversight of WHFMS work.
