A continuation of Česko-Slovanské podporující spolek (Czecho-Slavonic Benevolent Society) of the 1850s which worked to improve the economic, spiritual and physical well being of Czech immigrants and their descendants. The Society organized its members into lodges and through these lodges provided them with life insurance, cultural activities, and a forum for discussion of political and social issues.
