The Jeffersonian apartment building, located on East Jefferson Avenue, was conceived and designed as a luxury apartment building on the waterfront in downtown Detroit, Michigan. Designed by the architectural firm of Giffels and Rossetti, construction started in 1962 and the first apartments were leased in 1965. The building was the subject of a lawsuit brought by the FHA against the developer, Arthur Fleischman (1895-1985), a prominent local businessman. Construction setbacks, and the cash flow problems they created, caused the FHA to attempt to force a foreclosure of the property.
