McClurg, Dorothy O.

Dorothy Oliver McClurg was born on September 24, 1910, in Douglasville, Texas. She graduated from high school there, attended the University of Texas and East Texas Baptist College for her undergraduate degree and received her masters and counseling degrees from the University of Texas. She taught in the Maud, Marshall and Austin School Systems. Her teaching career spanned over 30 years. She taught English and Social Studies at T. N. Porter Middle School in Austin from 1960-1965 and English/Language Arts at Albert S. Johnson High School in Austin from 1966-1974. She retired from teaching in 1974. Dorothy McClurg died in Austin on December 21, 1997.
