Wyatt Rainey Blassingame (1909-1985), a native of Demopolis, Alabama, attended Howard College and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. After serving in World War II, Blassingame taught at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. An author of fiction and non-fiction, many of his works have Florida themes. Blassingame often published under the pseudonym W.B. Rainey.
