Born in 1893 and raised in Wisconsin, Clark studied languages and music, receiving her bachelor's degree in language at Carroll College, Waukesha, WI, and her M.A. in Latin from the University of Wisconsin. Before coming to the Newberry in 1930, Clark taught school in Michigan, Wisconsin, Louisiana, and Virginia. At the Newberry, she started as a catalogue searcher and later was appointed principal music cataloguer. Retiring in 1960, Clark taught, continued her involvement with music and genealogy, and became active in the church and other service organizations. Clark died in Wausau, WI, at the age of 97.
