Allied health education programs originated in the Indiana University School of Medicine. In 1941 an Allied Health Sciences degree was first offered through the School of Medicine. The Division of Allied Health Sciences was formed within the School of Medicine in 1959. In 1991 the program was given school status as the School of Allied Health Sciences, later shortened to the School of Allied Health. In 2002 the school was reorganized and renamed the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
