Avery, Ben, 1909-
Arizona conservationist and newspaper reporter.
Ben Avery was born in 1909. Shortly after, his family moved to the Clifton area. A reporter for the Arizona Republic from 1937 to 1974, Avery covered Arizona politics, the Capitol and Legislature, water and public land issues as well as outdoor news. As an active outdoorsman himself, Avery has been an influential voice for wildlife conservation.
