South Carolina political organization formed in 1831 as an auxiliary to the Charleston State Rights and Free Trade Association of South Carolina. Its purpose was to "diffuse information about the limitations imposed by the U.S. Constitution upon the powers of the Federal government and to vindicate the rights of the states."
