Confederate States of America. Army. Alabama Cavalry Regiment, 2nd.
This regiment was organized in Montgomery, Ala., 1862 May 1. It fought first in western Florida for ten months, then in Tennessee. The regiment then harassed Sherman, and joined Gen. Wheeler.
The regiment fought in the Dalton-Atlanta campaign as well, and escorted President Davis to Georgia in 1865.
Among the field and staff were colonels F.W. Hunter, R. Gordon Earle of Calhoun Co., Ala. killed at Kingston, Ga., and John N. Carpenter of Greene Co., Ala.
