Carolyn V. Adkins, registered nurse, born November 8, 1908 in Brewton, Alabama, was the daughter of Bland Wallace Adkins (1874-1945) and Winona Morgan Atlkins (1885-1972). Bland Wallace Adkins was a newspaper publisher and printer, who worked for the Waycross Georgian in Waycross, Georgia, where he lived for 20 years. lCarolyn graduated from Emory University in 1932 and then attended the Sheppard Pratt Psychiatric Institute (Baltimore, Maryland). After graduating from Sheppard Pratt she joined the Navy nurse corps and served for 5 years, part of the time in Guam. When she returned to the States, she primarily did private duty nursing. Among her clients were Lettie Pate Evans and Robert W. Woodruff. She also served as executive secretary of the 5th District Nurses Association for a number of years. She died on December 29, 1992 and is buries in Greenlawn Cemetery in Waycross, Georgia.
